The last days of service

With over thirty years of service in the British Army and finally retiring in March 1996, the Chieftain saw many upgrades, ending with the Mk 11. It had been the home of thousands of crews from various Armoured Regiments, who were on permanent standby during the Cold War. Quite a few are still around in museums or owned by private collectors, but sadly, many were dragged down range and are still being used as hard targets.
